Promoting sustainable mobility, that is the core business of VIM, Flanders Institute for Mobility. By working together with (small and large) companies and local authorities to conduct innovative test projects.

Therefore, VIM meets the Pact 2020 of the Flemish government, by committing themselves to reaching 1.000.000 vehicle loss hours less on Flemish roads by 2020.

Thanks to subsidies from IWT and Europe, innovative mobility solutions can be researched and implemented within a real-life test environment. VIM gains a lot of knowledge from these pilot projects, which both governments and companies can use to optimize their mobility.

VIM possesses expertise in numerous mobility fields such as commuting traffic, urban delivery, combining transport of goods, inland navigation, modal split, road surface management, less hindrance, etc.

Next to its projects, VIM also serves as a ‘network for innovation in mobility’. Today, this network counts 290 members from different industries.
